About Penny
Hello, my name is Penny Wicks and I am a counsellor based in Canterbury, Kent.
People who come into counselling often want to know about their therapist and why not! So here is an insight to my life.
I qualified as a secondary teacher in 1984 and I quickly started to enjoy working pastorally with children and parents and finished my teaching career as a Head of Sixth Form. I decided to undertake the four years training as a counsellor and although a very hard and intensive training I thoroughly enjoyed it and have continued to keep up to date with ongoing training.
Life is full of ups and downs and I have experienced my own personal traumas and changes and counselling helped me to understand myself and become aware of how I can manage life more effectively. I hope that my professional and personal experience will give you the strength and confidence to move on in your life.
On a final note - I always remember one of my counselling tutors saying that she learns from her clients and that is so true.
